ABS Self-Retracting Lifelines
Various Models Available: Aluminum/Synthetic, Strap/Cable
Our self-retracting lifelines are particularly robust because they have been developed and manufactured for tough usage. All essential device components are manufactured from durable materials, e.g. aluminum, stainless steel or shock-resistant synthetics. As they have been built to last our self-retracting lifelines are extremely reliable and require very little maintenance.
The cable uses the same principal as a seatbelt in an automobile. While working the length of the cable automatically adjusts itself to the required length without restricting the user in any way – at a speed of up to 0.5 meters per second. If this speed is exceeded centrifugal force causes the ratchet mechanism inside the self-retracting lifeline to lock.
The specially-integrated braking system also acts as a force absorber, limiting the level of force likely to be exerted on the human body to around 3-4 kN (depending on the weather and implementation conditions) – considerably below the 6 kN level stipulated by the DIN EN standard.

H = Self-retracting lifeline
W = Rotating bracket
The rotating bracket allows the casing to rotate 360°. This prevents the cable or strap getting twisted.
S = Galvanized steel cable
The steel cable is both highly robust and durable. It is implemented in difficult situations, e.g. in industrial environments, furnaces etc. or where the weather conditions are constanting changing.
B = Strap
The strap is sharp edge-tested and easy to use. It also prevents damage to existing materials. This is particularly important, for example, in bus, train or plane maintenance halls where a steel cable could cause damage to paintwork.
P = Synthetic casing
Although the synthetic casing is particularly light-weight it is extremely shock-resistant. It can be easily carried and is light to transport.
