ABS SafetyHike®
Vertical Fall Protection Cabling System with
Stainless Steel Guides and Traveling Rope Grab
Safe right to the very last rung: The ABS SafetyHike® system is a fall protection solution incorporating a vertical rope guide. With its practical rope glider and easily traversable intermediate brackets, the ABS SafetyHike® system stands for top safety and maximum user-friendliness.
This stainless steel fall arrester system complies with all the requirements set down in the PPE Directive. It has been tested by the certified DEKRA test institute in Bochum and is licensed in accordance with EN 353-1 and RfU 11.073 ("Recommendations for Use") published by the Vertical Group (VG11). Each arrester system glider is designed to secure one individual. A total of 4 individuals can hook up to the cable.

Features
The system can be mounted on virtually any standard ladder (aluminum included) with a 28cm rung interval (in line with Regulation BGV of the Employers' Liability Insurance Association) - whether the rungs are welded or crimped onto the uprights. The ABS SafetyHike® system is manufactured completely from stainless steel and is ideal for both indoor and outdoor usage.
Cable properties:
The guide cable consists of a stainless steel cable with a diameter of 8mm. The molded clevis fitted at one end is attached to the upper bracket.
Virtually any required cable length is possible. 30 meters of cable can be effortlessly tightened up using the lower end bracket. For stretches of over 30 meters stainless steel springs can be fitted. These compensate temperature-related deviations in cable length (summer/winter).
Implementation:
The ABS SafetyHike® system was developed to secure a user whilst ascending and descending a vertical ladder construction. This is achieved by connecting up a special 8mm stainless steel cable between two end brackets and the tightening it up.
Intermediate brackets are installed every 5-6 meters (every 6-7 meters when used indoors) to keep the cable straight and prevent swaying.
| Special feature: What makes the ABS SafetyHike® unique is its upper bracket. This can be supplied with a protrusion of between 0 and 130 cm (measured from the top rung) - depending on the respective requirements! This allows the extension of the connect/disconnect area! The system users remain secured by the stainless steel cable even whilst climbing onto or leaving the roof surface. This drastically reduces the risk at that particularly "critical moment" when a user releases the securing mechanism and climbs onto (or leaves) the roof surface! The upper bracket is attached directly to the top three rungs. Exeption: Crimped-on aluminum ladder rungs. In the case of crimped-on ladder rungs the device must be connected one rung further down. Arrester system glider: The arrester system glider glides along the guide cable, automatically blocking in the case of a fall. Its special technical design allows the glider to run freely alongside the user as he/she climbs up or down. The arrester system glider is supplied with a special, extra-short fall absorber. The handy carabiner snap hook is used to hook up the arrester system eyelet of the safety harness. ![]() Intermediate brackets Intermediate brackets are attached to the ladder rungs using counter plates. The stainless steel cable is pressed into the specially-designed rubber clamp. To run the glider over a bracket, the cable is briefly pulled out of the clamp and then pressed back in - requiring a minimum of effort. End bracket The end bracket is mounted at the bottom of the arrester system. This serves on the one hand as a cable clamp, i. e. it secures the cable, and on the other is used to compensate temperature related deviations in cable length. |
